The Reverend Tony P VanCura was born in Pipestone, Minnesota and baptized at First Lutheran Church.  At the age of 7 his family and he moved to Wabasha, MN (in the Mississippi River Valley) where he completed his High School education.  Tony was confirmed at St. John Lutheran church in Alma Wisconsin (across the river from Wabasha).
 
Pastor Tony is a ‘first-call’ pastor who moved here, with this wife and two daughters, from Orlando Florida, where he retired-early from a 20-year career with FedEx in Information Technology and Software Engineering. 
 
In the last 10 years of his time with FedEx, he:

• Completed an undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies at Amridge University (formerly Southern Christian University) in Montgomery Alabama.
• Completed a Master’s of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul Minnesota.
• Completed ELCA candidacy requirements including a 2-year/part-time internship with Redeemer Lutheran Church, Winter Park Florida and a 9-month Clinical Pastoral Education at Orlando Regional Medical Center – Level 1 Trauma Center.

 
Pastor Tony engages in parish ministry with an emphasis on our spiritual, liturgical, and denominational identity that celebrates our traditions and embraces new ideas.  Additionally he enjoys teaching, visitation, and biblical ‘plain-truth’ preaching.
